By now this is a pretty famous orchid for it fire colored, insect shaped blooms. The flowers are typically 3-4'' in size and bright orange-red with yellow barring. When a bloom fades, don't cut the spike unless it dies back on its own - these can flower for years off the same spike! Also known as mule-ear orchids, a single leathery leaf is produced off each pseudobulb. The leaves are stringing mottled green and maroon, making for an interesting foliage plant to boot! Available as seedling sized mericlones in 2'' net pots or  3'' nursery pots. Please review the photos for the typical size of these plants, 2-4 years away from first blooms.
